Sp!ng is a puzzle game where you are guiding a small object through a maze to a portal-like goal at the end. Along the way to the goal there are nodes that allow your object to swing around in a circle. The player must time when to attach and detach from these nodes and the length they need the string to be in order to complete the level successfully.
The player also needs to collect jewels that are located throughout the level; the total number of jewels they are able to collect before reaching the portal directly corresponds with the number of stars the player earns for the level. A perfect level earns the player three stars while missing several jewels can lead to a one star completion.
The stars earned by the player accumulate until they reach a specified number. Once this number is reached, the player can open a box that contains new level and object customizations that change the look and feel of each level.
Sp!ng is available for free with a subscription to Apple Arcade.
Focus: Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.
In order to make it to the end of each level in the game, the player needs to use their focusing skills and see all of the options available to them in real time as they progress through the level. If the player loses focus, they may find their object dashed on some spikes or they may complete the level but miss a few of the jewels. They will then have to play through the level several times until they are able to complete it. Players who struggle with focus may find games like Sp!ng helpful because it is easier to practice a skill in a fun way.
Flexibility: Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.
The game Sp!ng requires the player to use their flexibility skills in order to move quickly and make decisions in real time. Some levels have walls that close in, meaning that the player needs to make quick decisions or adapt when the levels suddenly change. Players who struggle with flexibility should play the first few levels of the game several times and try to complete the puzzle in a different way each time.
