Down in Bermuda is a cozy puzzle game where you are helping an elderly stranded aviator named Milton explore and ultimately escape the islands of Bermuda. The player needs to find orbs that allow them to pass through gates to visit other islands. On each island, Milton will solve a series of puzzles, defeat enemies, help the local population, and even find personal belongings which might provide clues to his past.
Milton needs to visit all of the islands of Bermuda before he can attempt to go home. Players manipulate the environment to look for stars and orbs which will open the gates to new worlds. Milton can also find keys which will open inaccessible areas and lead ancient treasure. Upon finishing the game, a new area will unlock if the player is able to locate all of the ancient treasures scattered around the six islands.
Focus: Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.
There are several puzzles that need to be completed before Milton can hop from one island to the next. The player needs to focus on the items that are scattered around the island and pay attention to what may be a clue to solving the puzzles. For people who struggle with Focus, they may find themselves missing clues or getting frustrated and giving up. For these players, taking a minute or so to look over the island before trying to solve any puzzles will allow for making observations without a specific goal in mind. Then when it comes time to solve a puzzle, the player can revisit these areas and focus on each problem one step at a time.
Flexibility: Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.
Each island contains a key that can be used on a future island as well as ancient artifacts, photographs, stars, and orbs that are needed to open the gates. These items are hidden throughout the island. Players need to use their flexibility skills and be willing to look in unconventional places for these items because their locations are not always apparent. Players who struggle with flexibility may find themselves stumped after all of the obvious items have been located. A star map is hidden on each island which can help players who need some hints but even these locations may require the solving of a puzzle before the item can be accessed.
