Geometry Wars: Galaxies is a 2D space shooter featuring minimalistic graphics reminiscent of classic arcade games like Asteroids. Players control a ship called a “Battle Drone” using either the DS touch screen or a Wii Remote. The goal of each level is to try to survive wave after wave of attacking enemy spacecrafts. Players must blast through hordes of enemies, picking up firepower upgrades and quickly maneuvering to dodge incoming attacks. Players can also play with friends in the game’s multiplayer mode. Geometry Wars: Galaxies features virtually no violence, as the game’s ships are represented by geometric shapes. While the game is easy to learn, it does quickly ramp up in difficulty. Due to the minimal violence and level of challenge, Geometry Wars: Galaxies is recommended for players ages 7 and up.
Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations. Trying new things.
Geometry Wars: Galaxies may look like a simple game, but the gameplay gets hectic rather quickly. As players progress, they'll be introduced to newer, tougher enemies, and will have to adapt to the challenges on screen. Sometimes defensive maneuvers are best to dodge attacks, but other times a full on assault is the only way to survive an enemy surge. By varying their offensive and defensive strategies, players can better adjust to the game's differing enemy types. Each enemy has unique attack patterns, so one singular approach won't beat them all. Also, players can receive upgrades that augment their firepower, again requiring them to adapt to new abilities in order to use them to their advantage.
Geometry Wars: Galaxies is often intense and chaotic, so players need to pay attention at all times in order to survive, concentrating on numerous factors at once. Enemies attack from all angles, forcing players to stay alert as they dodge incoming projectiles and shoot back at ships. If players fail to notice even a few enemy attacks, it will not be long before they are destroyed, as their ship can only sustain a few hits before the game is over. Also, players need to remain on the lookout for what specific types of enemies are attacking, as each use different tactics. The better players can concentrate on numerous enemies and attacks at once, the easier time they'll have later on when the rounds become swarmed with massive amounts of enemies.
