Google+ is a social networking website that offers unique features for customizing privacy and organizing information. To accumulate friends, users can sync Google+ with other social network accounts, or add friends individually. Friends are then sorted into a various “circles.” Each circle consists of customized privacy settings that allow users to control who can view their shared information. Users can easily share status updates and photos with close friends and family, while hiding this information from acquaintances or co-workers. As with any social network, users must understand the responsibility of having a personal web presence. It is recommended that parents monitor the webpage. Due to the nature of social media, Google+ is recommended for ages 12 and up.
Arranging and coordinating materials in order to complete a task.
Google+ can help your child organize contact information for family and friends, sort vacation photos, and keep in touch with lost connections. Sorting photographs is extremely helpful in fostering your child's organizational skills. Photos can be organized by date, subject matter, or location. By creating friend circles, your child must determine a custom privacy setting for each group. He or she must think about similar types of friends, sort them accordingly, and give them an appropriate privacy setting.
Understanding our own actions, thoughts and feelings. Improving social skills.
Establishing a personal page on a social network requires your child to understand the difference between what is acceptable for a public webpage and what is personal information. Google+ will also allow children to be creative and show their friends and family who they are, while withholding informational that is not suitable for public view.
Keeping in touch with family and friends through Google+ means reading and commenting on status updates. Reading status updates posted by friends and family members is an engaging way to read short text. Your child can point out errors in grammar and diction while sifting through a variety of posts.
In order to tell others what is going on in your child's life, he or she will need to update personal statuses, publish notes to friends, or write messages to family members. Encourage your child to write longer posts. With Google+'s nearly unlimited character space, your child has the ability compose letters and prose on their site. There is also a spell check feature, that allows your child to correct his or her spelling errors.
