Pinterest is a free content sharing social website where users can post images, recipes, poems, craft projects, and other creative ideas on “pinboards.” Users thematically organize their posts, or “pins,” to create a visually stimulating representation of their interests. Users often use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes. Users can also browse pinboards to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share similar interests. A Pinterest board can be shared through Facebook or Google+ and a mobile version is also available. Pinterest requires some reading and not all of the content is acceptable for young children. When monitored by an adult, Pinterest is suitable for children 7 and up.

Users can also practice their reading skills by joining the conversation to read over other users' comments and replies, and should be encouraged to post comments on pins that they themselves find interesting. Although Pintrest is very much a visual website, comments, conversations and descriptions are what give the site its connected, social atmosphere.
