Preschool apps are a great way for young children to practice their working memory skills. All of the activities in the app are designed to help children hear and see the sounds of English words and their spellings while being asked to perform a task such as clicking on the word or its corresponding picture once or twice.These types of activities help build the connection in the child’s brain between the information they are being presented and the task they are trying to complete. 

Focus: Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.

Learning apps are also a great way for children to begin to practice their focusing skills. Because the games and activities in Learn English are short and sustained, children will be practicing this skill by paying attention to the directions and then participating in the game. For example, the memory game builds up in complexity, starting with just two cards and adding more as the child successfully completes each game. This allows the child to start with a very small task and gradually increases the need for focus over time.
