Crayola Create and Play is an app for children who want to make art on the go! After opening the app, the user can choose from several different art projects, including painting, coloring book pages, pixel art, and pet decoration. The app features several different crayola products for users to create their masterpieces, such as colored pencils, crayons, glitter, paint, and stamps. The work created by the user is displayed in a “museum” where the crayon characters in the app can visit.
The app contains an educational section where art and the learning are mixed together. Users can select stencils to spell out words, decorate them with spray paint by tracing the letter and then display their work. They can also do shape matching activities and basic coding activities, all while using colors and fun sound effects.
The app also features simple games for children to play that involve hand-eye coordination such as Scoop Stack, a game where the user is trying to build the biggest ice cream cone by catching falling scoops of ice cream.
Crayola Create and Play is free to use but certain feature require in-app purchases. It is available now on iOS and Android.
Focus: Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.
Creating a piece of art can take time, which is why it’s a great way for younger children to practice their focusing skills. All of the art options in this app allow children to use a template or a blank page to create their own unique works of art. When they are complete, they can be placed in the app’s museum to look at any time. For younger children, starting with one piece of art and then working up to longer sessions of drawing or painting can be a good way to build up their focusing skills.
Flexibility: Trying something new.
Crayola Create and Play features several different activities for children, ranging from coloring book pages to pet decoration to educational activities. This app is a perfect opportunity to practice trying something new with your child. Because the activities are all interesting, colorful, and feature engaging music, trying something new can be fun and educational. For users who struggle with flexibility, trying just one new activity a day can be a good way to build up these skills without being too overwhelming.
