Bitsboard combines a number of strategies into one versatile and customizable app. The app includes flashcards, matching games, and visual multiple choice games on subjects ranging from a foreign language to instrument sounds. Users may download additional “boards” which are available in a variety of subjects at a differing levels of difficulty. Alternatively, users may also create and customize their own “boards” to use as teaching tools. Mini games include flashcards, multiple choice games (called “photo touch”), matching games, and “word builder” games. This app is beneficial to any alternative learner or young child, but is especially recommended for children dealing with autism spectrum disorders. This app is simple and easy to use, and appropriate for anyone ages 4 and up.
Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.
Users will exercise the Focus thinking skill in a number of ways while using Bitsboard. Many "photo touch" games -- which require users to select a single picture as a correct answer amongst numerous photographs -- repeat questions but increase the number of choices. For example, in the emotion recognition "photo touch" mini-game, users are prompted to select a photograph which accurately depicts a specific emotion. As the user continues to correctly identify different facial expressions, the difficulty increases by adding additional options. Users must concurrently increase their level of concentration, and failing to exercise keen Focus during BitsBoard' s mini-games will result in decreased performance and results. The better users are able to maintain attention and sustain concentration more likely they are to receive the greatest benefit from the app.
Recalling and retaining information in our mind while working.
Utilizing flashcards, matching, and "photo touch" games requires users to recall increasingly complex pieces of information and put them to use when answering questions. Many lessons repeat questions using different options, requiring users to learn terms, sounds, or other information over time and correctly apply it in new situations. For example, when utilizing a foreign language "board," users will be presented with repeating vocabulary words and sentences. Over time, utilization of the Working Memory thinking skill while playing BitsBoard's mini-games such as this can result in increased memorization through the learning of new vocabulary, concepts, terms, or other important information.
