In this puzzle game, players guide differently colored cars through a four-way intersection. When five or more cars of the same color travel down the same road, the road takes on that color. When a colored car is sent down a road of the same color, “fuel” is generated. Fuel propels a “Core” (located on the bottom screen) farther away from an approaching “Spike.” If the Spike reaches the Core, the game is over. Fuel is stored by continually sending more colored cars down roads of the same color, and if a car of the wrong color is sent down the road, the road loses its color as well as the fuel it was generating. However, players can generate fuel on multiple roads at once, and must decide when to stop building up fuel so they can actually use it to distance the Core from the Spike. This game has no offensive content and is no reading required to play, but it may be a bit difficult for younger kids. Art Style: DIGIDRIVE is recommended for players ages 7 and up.

Self-Control

Managing our actions, feelings and behaviors.

Art Style: DIGIDRIVE - Educational Game Review image 1

In Art Style: DIGIDRIVE, players have to carefully control their actions, as the fast pace of the game can sometimes lead players to act impulsively. By effectively inhibiting their respnse, players are less likely to make hasty mistakes. Losing at this game can be frustrating, and in order to win, players must be able to remain calm. Getting frustrated only makes players respond more brashly and can keep them from devloping the strategies they need to gather fuel and win.

Focus

Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.

There are many things going on in this game all at once, requiring players to split their attention between multiple factors of the game. Players who only focus on the cars and roads may lose sight of the larger goal, which is to use fuel to propel the Core away from the Spike. If players become too concerned with generating fuel in the roads, however, they may eventually lose site of the Core, or worse, lose fuel due to careless mistakes. In the game's "Endless " mode, the game tests how long players can last in an increasingly challenging level, requiring them to sustain their concentration over extended periods of time.

Flexibility

Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.

Due to the constant stream of cars flooding the screen, players need to be able to act quickly to the action on the screen. In the game's bonus Overdrive mode, having quick reflexes becomes even more important, as the cars build in speed and eventually move so fast that players must react in an instant. Players unable to quickly adapt to the action and manage multiple streams of cars at once will struggle to build up enough fuel to keep the game going and bolster their score.
