Afterglow is a photo editing app for use on iPhone and iPad which allows users many of the same editing tools that they would find on at-home editing software and programs. Similar to programs like Photobucket or Instagram, Afterglow lets you take a photo and apply different filters or effects to the picture, from basic cropping and re-sizing to changing colors, adding animated features, or colored lenses. From there, users can upload their creations to their favorite social media site, such as Twitter or Facebook. Younger children may wish to start with Instagram, and move on to Afterglow once they feel comfortable with basic photo editing skills. Due of the advanced editing capabilities of the program, Afterglow is recommended to ages 10 and up.

this game is good for kids who need help with:

Planning

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals. Improving short-term planning.

Afterglow has many different effects, filters, and tools for your child to use in order to create and edit her photo. However, in order to get the desired results, she'll have to plan which tools to use and what order in which to use them. She'll need to be aware of her options and have an idea of what she'll want to create before setting up a shot, allowing her to incorporate the functions and editing abilities of the Afterglow app in a deliberate way. Sometimes, using the wrong filters in the wrong order can result in widely different results. Using the wrong tool or forgetting an important step can mean that she won't get the result she desires.

Flexibility

Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.

Because of the amount of tools at your child's disposal, she may be tempted to use only the first few that she becomes familiar with. However, fully exploring Afterglow's different features expands her photo editing abilities, allowing her to incorporate more tools in order to create different, more exciting photos for her to share. The more she explores her options, the more she'll be able to understand the tools she's given and use them in new ways; if she doesn't, all of her photos may end up looking similar, or worse -- dull.
