Disney Story Realms is a storybook app where the user can choose from a huge selection of Disney stories. When the user clicks on the story, they can see how many pages the story is, as well as the appropriate age range in regards to reading level. The user can zoom into the text and pictures of the story by pinching and dragging the screen with their fingers. They can then swipe with their fingers to turn the page.
The storybooks feature new and old Disney characters, Pixar movie characters, and even different themes such as Summer, Christmas, and Halloween-themed stories.
Some books even have an interactive option where the user can play small games such as putting together puzzles, painting, and sticker book activities.
Parents can set a time limit for the app as well, choosing between 10 minutes and an unlimited amount of time. In this way, parents can control how much screen time their child is receiving for the day.
Disney Story Realms is a subscription-based app that is available for Android and iOS. While the stories are appropriate for children from age three and up, the stories are not read out loud and may require adult assistance.
Flexibility: Trying something new.
Disney Story Realms features a wide selection of storybooks with different characters and themes. Instead of focusing only on their favorite characters or movies, the user has the opportunity to practice their flexibility skills and try something new. The titles in the app range from original Disney characters to recent additions such as Raya and the Last Dragon and the Pixar movie Soul. Users who struggle with flexibility in real life may find that they enjoy scrolling through the different story options and choosing one new title per day.
Focus: Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.
All of the books available on the Disney Story Realms app are specifically designed for younger children. The page length and reading level are also listed so that the user knows how much of a time commitment and challenge each book will be. The user then has to use their focusing skills to read the story, either by themselves, or along with an adult. Because the stories are relatively short in length, the user can practice their focusing skills with a shorter task before moving on to longer stories which would require more advanced focusing skills.
