Siri is a voice-activated virtual assistant that comes on iPhone models 4S and newer. Siri can be used as an organizational app to set reminders, alarms, and update calendar events. It can also be used as a hands-free utility  allowing users to dictate text messages, e-mail, as well as search commands for Siri to carry out. Siri can be helpful for anyone, but those who struggle to write in their daily agenda or dislike using the touch screen keyboard on the iPhone will find this especially useful. Due to the simplicity of the app’s voice-activated interface, Siri is recommended to ages 4 and up.

This app is good for kids who need help with:

Arranging and coordinating materials in order to complete a task.

Siri makes staying organized very easy. Users simply hold down the center button on the iPhone, and ask the app to remind them to do a task or make appointment. Siri will automatically manage calendar events once the command is given. For users who never predisposed to updating a calendar, using Siri to handle to legwork, might make the idea seem more appealing. Siri will enter due dates, event times, and can even provide a detailed description of an event, affording users with a sense of control over their day to day schedules.

Time Management

Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort. Estimating time and meeting deadlines.

One of the most helpful features of the Siri app, is the ability to set timers to help keep users punctual. Reminders urge users to begin assignments early, preventing them from procrastinating or waiting until the last minute. Rushed work often results in lower grades, and sets a bad precedent for future assignments. Dictated reminders will alert users to study for exams, and help them stay on top of schoolwork. Siri's timer function can serve as a way to facilitate efficiency and encourage productivity.

Siri can provide instant answers to most math problems. The app can perform order of operations, square foots, and exponents. While the app does not necessarily make users better with math concepts, it does afford them the opportunity to work with numbers with 100 percent accuracy. Siri also provides help regarding more conceptual and complicated aspects of mathematics like formulas and theorems. The app can even be used to convert units of measurement quickly and easily.
