Choiceworks is an excellent app for establishing visual schedules for transitioning students and children through multi-step tasks and routines, like getting ready in the morning, or calming down when they’re upset. Choiceworks contains a collection of images to choose from and users can also input their own. Users can create an unlimited number of schedules, and they can also practice waiting by using the wait screen, with a timer that shows the amount of time left, and options for what can be done while they wait. This app is especially helpful for users with autism spectrum disorders, but it can also be useful for any children who need help adapting to a schedule, managing time or improving patience. The app is very easy to use, making it recommended for use with ages 3 and up.

This App is good for kids who need help with:

Planning

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Choiceworks can help your child practice planning by having you and your child work together to establish a visual schedule for various tasks and routines. This way he will have a step by step guide in front of him as he proceeds through the routine. Choiceworks can create plans for every task he may encounter in his day and help him stay on track through visual  aids.

Self-Awareness

Understanding our own actions, thoughts and feelings.

Your child can use Choiceworks to calm down when he feels upset, and redirect himself onto a task that will take the place of a tantrum or outburst. He will need to monitor his own emotions, and understand when Choiceworks could help him take a break and calm down. This will remind him the best steps to take when he's angry and show him the solutions for everyday problems that he may have problems dealing with.

Time Management

Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort.

Your child can practice time management by using the timer feature, and by inputting time periods into the visual schedule. This way he knows exactly how long he needs to spending reading each night, brushing his teeth in the morning, and completing other important tasks. He can also reward himself when he manages his time correctly and learn to focus his schedule needs without distraction.
