Blio is an online e-reader and e-library that is available both as a web-based service and as a mobile app. Users can browse and purchase e-books from an enormous and ever-growing selection of titles, and then read the e-books using a variety of tools. For example, many books feature an audio version, and those that don’t can be read aloud by the app’s text-to-speech capabilities, highlighting words as they are read to allow users to follow along with the text. Users can even look up unfamiliar words on the web — all without ever leaving the app. Because of these unique features, Blio can enjoyed by almost anyone, and can especially be helpful for those with disabilities like dyslexia, making the the app suitable for users ages 4 and up.
Understanding our own actions, thoughts and feelings.
E-books offer a great opportunity for your child to discover her interests. Whether she reads comic books, novels, fantasy, or non-fiction, your child will develop her own taste and style in literature. In addition, your child will need to assess the tools that are available in Blio that could help read more easily based on her own strengths and weaknesses.
Recalling and retaining information in our mind while working.
When reading e-books, just like any book, your child will likely not finish the book in one sitting. In order to avoid re-reading the same passages over and over, she'll need to use strategies for remembering what she reads. This will allow her to pick up the story where she left off and complete her e-books in a timely fashion.
Sometimes technology in itself can be a motivating factor for alternative learners and children in general. E-books bring traditional stories to life with vivid graphics and other features. Blio will encourage your child to practice reading more often by offering a portable library that your child can access anytime, anywhere.
