Trello is an organizational app where students can set up task lists, assign tasks to others and manage their time by setting reminders.

Students can use the app on their own or as part of a “team” where individuals have assigned tasks. The whole family can use Trello to assign chores and tasks to each member as well as add major family events to the shared calendar. Students can also use Trello for group projects and assign tasks to various members of their group.

Once tasks have been added, they can be assigned a date, a subject tag, a deadline, and a person responsible for completing that task. These tasks go in a “To Do” folder of the app. Simply swipe the task to the next folder to move it into the “Doing” category. Finally, when the task is complete, swipe it into the “Done” category.

Trello is a great way for students to maintain projects with multiple people, or for a whole family to maintain organization. Because of the amount of reading and writing involved in the app, younger students who cannot read will not be able to use this app without parental assistance.

Trello helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Time Management: Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort.

By setting a timer and allowing for breaks, Flora teaches efficiency and time management. When the plant is grown, the task is done and you know it is time to take a break. You can change the time based on the activity and add tags to the timer as well, helping you keep track of how much time you spend on certain activities and how successful you were at staying on track.

Organization: Organizing School and Homework

By using Trello, students are able to keep track of tasks that need to be done, what is currently being worked on, and what they have accomplished. Setting dates with reminders also allows students to keep track of what they need to accomplish on any given task. Because this app can be used for group projects, it also helps students see what each person in the group needs to accomplish; this eliminates the worry that your student is not working on their part of the project.
