LEGO Duplo World is an app where the user can explore a variety of subjects and build creatively using digital Duplo blocks. The app contains several different themes for the user to choose from, ranging from Number Train to Construction Site to Wild Animals. Each section of the app has activities specifically designed to enhance motor skills, creativity, as well as a variety of executive functioning skills. There are also plenty of free build activities where the user can build alongside a guide or put together new creations that are all their own.
The app also features bright colors, fun music, and audio to reinforce certain lessons. For example, the Number Train section will read the numbers out loud every time the user touches the Duplo bricks that correspond to that number. When the blocks are placed in order, the numbers are read back again, ensuring that the user receives the repetition of hearing the numbers multiple times.
LEGO Duplo World is a free-to-download app and features Number Train as a free interactive section. Additional sections need to be purchased through the app. LEGO Duplo World is currently available on Android and iOS.
Organization: Arranging and coordinating materials in order to complete a task.
Many of the activities in the app require the user to practice their organization skills. There are activities where the user has to place numbers in the correct order, sort blocks by color, and put Duplo creations together in the correct order. These games and activities introduce the concept of order and organization to younger users, allowing them to practice these skills in a fun and colorful environment. Repetition of these tasks also ensures that the user gets plenty of practice with them as well.
Working Memory: Recalling and retaining information in our minds while working.
Activities within the app allow for users to practice their working memory skills even at a very young age. The Wild Animals expansion features a memory game where the user opens tiny doors on trees to try and match the animals contained within. The Number Train section of the app requires children to place the sound of a number with its written form while putting them in order on the train cars. These activities are a great way for children to practice these skills and get the repetition necessary for them to stick.
