Today we are going mobile to talk about Apple Arcade’s newest rhythm game Taiko no Tatsujin: Pop, Tap, Beat! This is the newest in the long running Namco series where you and your adorable Taiko avatar drum your way through various songs and unlock new content along the way.
Like any rhythm game, you are going to need some serious working memory skills. The notes you need to hit scroll from right to left and you need to remember which color and size icon represents a certain action you must perform. For example, a small red circle is a regular “don” sound while a larger red circle is a much louder “don” which requires you to hit the drum with two fingers instead of one. This may sound easy but as you move up in difficulty levels and the notes are flying by, you’ll see why it’s important to have this knowledge ready to go before you push your first button.
You are also going to need focus in order to succeed with this game. The backgrounds of Taiko no Tatsujin are colorful and bizarre, meaning that they are also really fun to watch. But if you take your eyes off of the drum beats, you will easily lose your place and possibly mess up your entire sense of rhythm. Focusing only on the notes and the beat of the song will ensure that you get the highest score possible.
