Hey everyone, welcome to Learningworks for Kids Game Spotlights! This is a new series where we will be walking through some of your favorite games and talking about how playing them can help you get better at real-world skills!
Today we are going to be talking about Elite Dangerous! This open world adventure game places the player in a spaceship in a stunning 1 to 1 recreation of the Milky Way galaxy. There are four hundred billion star systems to explore within the game, meaning that if you love exploration within simulated space, this is the game for you! The player chooses a career from an impressive list of options, ranging from pirate to smuggler to exobiologist. They can then take on missions and go to star ports to trade cargo for currency. This can be used to upgrade your ship, change its paint job, and even decorate its interior. Each ship is unique, meaning that the player needs to focus on their flying because purchasing a different sized ship will mean it handles differently than the one you may be used to.
For players wanting to test their flexibility skills, following unidentified signals allows you to experience unknown environments and random encounters within the game. Sometimes these encounters are with other players who may be carrying some very alluring and tempting cargo. But practicing self-control is important too; if you attack another player you begin to have bounties placed on your head which makes you an obvious target going forward.
Well, that’s all the time we have for today but be sure to join us for the next Game Spotlight at learningworksforkids.com!
