Do you have what it takes to defy the devil? In the 2014 game Cuphead, two brothers will find out the answer to this question as they battle through a landscape of incredibly difficult boss battles.

After losing in a game of chance with the devil, Cuphead and his brother Mugman are about to lose their souls. But after some begging, the devil agrees to let them go if they can collect all the soul contracts from his debtors who have escaped. Armed with the ability to shoot projectiles from his fingertips, Cuphead moves around in four unique areas and battles each debtor in order to collect their soul contracts and bring them back to the devil.

It may sound simple but Cuphead’s boss battles are notoriously difficult. You will need both flexibility and working memory to defeat them because they deal damage in patterns that need to be remembered while you are constantly moving and shooting. To make matters worse, you only get 3 HP so make one mistake too many and your soul is lost for ever…

About those mistakes…you’re definitely going to make them. This is where your self-control comes into play. There is so much chaos on screen and it takes a lot of focus to fight each boss so losing in Cuphead can be particularly frustrating. But keeping a cool Cuphead will be way more beneficial if you want to make it to the end of the game.
