Today we are going to be talking about the platformer Shredded Secrets. This game was created by three middle schoolers who were a part of the program Girls Make Games and won first place in the organization’s 2018 competition. The game has been available for PC and Mac for awhile but is now getting a brand new Nintendo Switch release. The game focuses on four different characters in a school; three students and one teacher. As you play through each character’s story you will see that they are each dealing with some pretty heavy problems. Your goal is to navigate the world and escape the school at the end of the day. As you go through the school you will encounter all sorts of obstacles ranging from garbage piles to bullies to giant version of yourself. Each character’s story ends with a boss fight where the player needs to help the character come to terms with their problems and help them find a way to move forward. If you think this sounds like an interesting game, definitely give Shredded Secrets a try.

Shredded Secrets is a great way for players to practice their self-awareness skills. Because all of the characters in the game are going through something difficult, the player can really put themselves in their place and see how the actions of others are helping or hurting them in each chapter of the story. For example, getting hit by bullies who throw insults will actually cause the player to take damage. The player can see the effect of bullying on-screen and think about what they would do in this situation.

This game is also a great way for the player to practice focus. Because all of the enemies in the game follow specific patterns, the player needs to pay attention to their movements to avoid damage and make it to the end of the level. In the boss fights of the game, the movements are unique so the player needs to pay attention while also attacking and avoiding damage.
