If you like Stardew Valley but just want a little more anime added to it, you’ll love today’s game, Rune Factory 5. This game is the latest in the long running series and is the first of these games to take place in a three dimensional world. At the beginning of the game you choose whether you would like to play as a boy or a girl and then immediately get to saving a little girl in danger. It is soon revealed that you have amnesia and don’t remember anything about who you are or where you come from. The young girl takes you to Rigbarth, a quiet sleepy village where you are taken in as the newest member of SEED, an organization dedicated to keeping monsters at bay and away from the village. But that’s not the only thing you can do in Rigbarth. There are fish to be caught, crops to grow, errands to run, dragons to be friends, recipe bread to eat…and this is all just within the village walls. Outside of this, there is adventure to be had, monsters to tame and boss monsters to fight. If you cannot wait to get into yet another great management sim, give Rune Factory 5 a try!
This game is a great way to practice your flexibility skills. Because there is so much to do in this game, you can literally try something new every day you play the game. So if you are spending a lot of time working on your farm, maybe take a day to giving fishing or adventuring a try. Check out the announcement board in front of the SEED headquarters and see what the villagers are asking; you can take some time from your daily routine to help them out and build up a relationship with them as well. There are so many ways to level up your skills and have fun in this game so trying something new is all part of enjoying Rune Factory 5!
This game is also a great way to practice planning. Like most management sims, leveling up and getting bigger and better upgrades requires a great deal of planning. Acquiring certain items requires the player to plan out their day, which items they keep and which they sell, and how to navigate their stamina bar versus the tasks they want to complete before the end of the day.
And finally, the game is a great way to practice self-awareness. So much of the game revolves around doing favors for local villagers and building relationships with them. Like in real life, talking with villagers and helping them in times of need allows for those relationships to grow and maybe even blossom into something else if you want. Having good self-awareness allows the player to see how these relationships build and think about the happiness of others in-game and in real life.
