Hey everyone, welcome to Learningworks for Kids Game Spotlights! This is a series where we walk through your favorite games and talk about how playing them can help you get better at real-world skills! If you want to know more about how to take your gameplay to the next level, visit www.lw4k.com and learn more about how video games can be a part of a balanced play diet.

Today we are going to talk about Pupperazzi. This game is a first person photography game where you the player arrive on an island as the new Pupperazzo, aka, someone or something to take photos of the dogs who live there. As you complete objectives and photograph the dogs in one location, new areas will open with more complex objectives and different types of dogs. Completing objectives will earn you golden bones which can be spent on upgrading your camera lenses and purchasing film so that you can keep photographing those sweet pups. But it’s not all just taking pictures for yourself. You have a social media account that needs to be maintained. Whether you want to become instantly famous or just share a few favorite shots is up to you. Posting pictures and completing objectives will also earn you followers but beware–posting too many photos will irritate your subscribers and won’t result in more of them checking out your account. In addition to taking photos, you can also pet and play with the dogs using items you find around the area like sticks. So if you wish you could live among many adorable dogs this is the game for you!

This game is a great way to practice working memory and focusing skills. Because each objective is different, the player has to pay attention to what kind of photo is being requested. Sometimes the dog needs to be performing a specific action like holding a stick. Sometimes you need something else in the photo, like a lighthouse in the background. The player needs to pay attention to what is being asked of them and then use their working memory to realize when an opportunity for a photo comes up.

This game is also a great way to practice planning. In the game, completing objectives and taking photos will earn you “Bonks, gold dog bones which can be used to purchase items to help you become a better photographer. However, you need to use your planning skills to determine what you want to spend your money on and whether it will help you earn more bonks later on.
