Hey everyone, welcome to LearningWorks for Kids Game Spotlights! This is a new series where we will be walking through some of your favorite games and talking about how playing them can help you get better at real-world skills! If you want to know more about how to take your gameplay to the next level, visit learningworksforkids.com and learn more about how video games can be a part of a balanced play diet.

The Olympian gods have been captured and need you to save them in today’s game,  Immortals: Fenyx Rising. In this game, Typhon, a titan banished to the underworld, has captured all of the greek gods except for Zeus. He claims that his way of ruling will avoid all of the flaws exhibited by Artemis, Ares, Poseidon, and the rest of the gang. It is up to you, a demigod named Fenyx, to release them and save the day. Washed up on the shores after a devastating shipwreck, Fenyx discovers their entire crew turned to stone. Their brother, once a brave hero, has now also been reduced to a pile of crumbling rubble. Taking his sword, this storyteller turned fighter must navigate the world, defeat enemies, acquire more skills, and rescue everything they hold dear. Oh, and keep the world from devolving into chaos. No big deal, right?

In order to do this, you will need to solve puzzles, face off against legendary monsters such as Medusa, and the Minotaur. And finally, you will have to take on Typhon himself in order to bring order back and release the Greek gods from their prison. Grab your sword of Achilles, your bow of Odysseus, and flap your wings of Daedalus and dive into Immortals: Fenyx Rising.

This game requires players to use their working memory skills because battles take place in real time and remembering the button mapping while in the middle of combat is essential to coming through alive and ready to fight the next battle. Players also need to use their organization skills in order to keep track of mission objectives, place pings on the map as reminders of where to look for certain items, and to stay focused on what needs to be accomplished in what order. Players also need to use their flexibility skills when navigating the in-game puzzles and vaults.

How did you customize your character Fenyx? If you could have a legendary weapon from any other game what would it be and why? Let us know in the comments below!
