Bejeweled Blitz is a “match-three” puzzle game in which players must align gems of similar shape and color in rows or columns. Players are able to switch adjacent gems within an 8X8 grid, vertically or horizontally, in order to create matches of three. Once matched, gems disappear, with new ones falling from above to fill their space. Players must match as many gems as possible within 60 seconds, working to earn a high score by chaining together matches, creating combos, and earning point multipliers. Bejeweled Blitz contains no inappropriate content and is a great game for players ages 5 and up.

THIS GAME IS GOOD FOR KIDS WHO NEED HELP WITH:

Focus

Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.

bb 1Bejeweled Blitz requires that players remain intensely focused and attentive throughout for the duration of each match, scanning the game screen for possible matches and swapping together similar gems as fast as possible. Multiple power-ups augment the gameplay, offering players new opportunities to rack up extra points. Flame Gems, Star gems and Hypercubes must be used to good affect, and the periodic appearance of Rare Gems will net players large bouses if used promptly. Inattentive players are likely to encounter many missed opportunities, and if they don't stay sharp, they may even find themselves failing levels altogether.

Time Management

Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort.

Each game session in Bejeweled Blitz lasts 60 seconds. Players are tasked with racking up the highest score possible within this time frame. Being able to manage time effectively and efficiently can greatly increase overall scores. Players must employ strategies that maximize the time left on the clock, which may require more than simply making easy matches as quickly as possible. Sometimes, taking the time to set up chain reactions proves more beneficial, as it racks up score multipliers and enables strategic use of a power-ups. Towards the end of the match, however, it may be better to just match-up any remaining gems while they still can. Getting the highest possible score within 60 seconds will require players to not only assess where they can immediately score points, but how they can manipulate the game environment to maximize potential for future points.
